A 32-mile, 3-hour round trip to Frostburg over trackage of the former Western Maryland Railway and Cumberland & Pennsylvania Railroad, including a 1.5-hour layover at Frostburg, the site of The Old Depot restaurant, the Depot Center Shops, and an active turntable. The route passes through the Cumberland Narrows, traverses the famous Helmstetter's Horseshoe Curve, includes a tunnel, climbs 1300 feet, and features spectacular mountain scenery. Trains depart from downtown Cumberland's Western Maryland Station Center, which houses the Transportation and Industrial Museum, the Allegany Arts Council Gallery, the Western Maryland gift shop, the Allegany County Tourism Information Office, the Western Maryland Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society, and a National Park Service Chesapeake & Ohio Canal Visitors Center. The western terminus of the C&O Canal is adjacent to the station.
