Motive Power

egyptian n its first season of operation, Azalea Sprinter trains made use of a variety of motive power. Freight locomotives assigned to CaterParrott's Valdosta Division were the first power: usually a road and yard switcher, each on an end. When the switchers left the CPR fleet, a GP40 was used on either end of the train. In 2022, a pair of EMD E-units was secured for future passenger power: one has been repainted for Sprinter service, the other remains offsite in Tifton, Georgia. Recent additions of former Norfolk Southern SD70M-2 power on the Valdosta Division have also found one of those units supplying power for passenger trains.
