steam_state egyptian ost of the surviving Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad steam locomotives exist today on the railroad's two narrow gauge successors in southern Colorado: the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad and the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad. These two tourist operations are stewards of the largest collection of Rio Grande steam engines (and rolling stock) anywhere, and most continue to operate. The Colorado Railroad Museum also has some Rio Grande narrow gauge steam in its collection, as well as the only surviving D&RGW standard gauge steamer — featured on our Standard Survivors page.
